Who Are They?
Meals are provided to homebound seniors serving the areas of Dunsmuir, McCloud, Mt. Shasta and Weed. The Shasta Area Wheels program promotes health and supports the choice of independence by preparing and delivering nutritious, affordable meals to people in need of their service. Another core value of their services is the social contact with each client. This helps ensure the client's safety. Hot meals are also served on-site Tuesday through Friday at The Senior Dinning Center located at the Mt. Shasta City Park.
The focus of Mercy Hospice is to provide medical, emotional and spiritual support and care for those whose illness cannot be cured, and to enrich every moment of remaining life. Their team-approach includes a Medical Director, Registered Nurse, Home Health Aide, Social Worker, Chaplain, Physical Therapist, and volunteers. Mercy Hospice treats the person instead of the disease, focusing on the family instead of just the individual, and emphasizes comfort and quality of life.

Donations to "Our" Non-Profits
The three non-profits, Meals On Wheels Auxiliary, Mercy Hospice and JEDI (Jefferson Economic Development Institute) have received a total of $102,200 since we opened 4 years ago!
"It is because of the community's generosity that allows a store like ours to succeed," said New 2 You founder, Sandy Patterson. "Most donors have given high quality items and our wonderful volunteers have worked hard to make our store beautiful, with a friendly boutique-like atmosphere but with thrift store prices. We make sure we keep our prices low to help our community during these hard times, it is time to help our fellow man."
From The Mercy Hospice Mt Shasta Team:
"The New 2 You shop has again granted Mercy Hospice Mt Shasta with a financial gift supporting our work with the terminally ill patients and their families in South County. With the monetary gifts that come our way from New 2 You and other donors, we are able to provide (on a case-by-case basis) unique equipment needs, specialized comfort medications (if needed) and care giver support that goes above and beyond our plan of care availabilities. This is to name just a few ways we use donated funds!
"Thank you to all of the New 2 You volunteers and community members that donate and/or shop that 'make it happen'!"
The Mercy Hospice Mt Shasta Team, Kristine Neel, RN/BSN, Manager of Hospice Services
From JEDI Executive Director:
"JEDI is so pleased to accept this continuing contribution. It is a true example of 'pay it forward' and every time we get a contribution that allows us to keep this service open and available to all pursuing greater prosperity, we are thrilled. The success of this business enables greater JEDI success. Thank you!"
Nancy T. Swift, Executive & Founding Director, Jefferson Economic Development Institute (JEDI)
From Meals on Wheels Director:
Meals on Wheels is South County's home meal delivery program, delivering hot meals to those in need. The program is primarily Federally and State funded. But every year the program runs short of cash.
"As I have said before, this is a problem we can handle," says Meals on Wheels Auxiliary President, Dawn Fazende. "Donations like the one we have received from New 2 You are invaluable to us. This money makes things brighter for seniors in South County.
"Many groups are holding small fundraisers for the cause and all the positive energy is inspiring. Donors and organizers get a lot of satisfaction from helping such a necessary program. I would request that businesses consider making a tax deductible donation to Meals on Wheels. You can send a check to MOW, PO Box 443, Mt. Shasta, CA 96067."
New 2 You Thrift Store is run solely by donation of quality items like furniture, dresses, kitchen items electronics, small appliances, tents, backpacks, sleeping bags, camping gear, antiques, pet things, summer clothes, art work, and medical things like walkers, and wheelchairs, so keep them coming. We always take donations Tuesday through Saturday 11p.m to 4 a.m. at 412 S. Mt. Shasta Blvd. You can call us at 530-918-9570 or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Your contribution is tax deductible and will benefit our local non-profits, Meals On Wheels, Hospice, and Jedi.
